May '09 Inspirations

We've been trying to find a
pattern for a round yoke dress
with the dress gathered to the
yoke - and look what we found!
This is the slip version of
Chery Williams' "Round Yoke
Heirloom Dress and Slip."

The fabric is a beautiful
summer print from Fabric Finders.

Martha has changed the seam allowances on the yoke
to make the yoke a little wider.  The normal seam allowance
is 5/8" - we used a 1/4" seam allowance on the bottom
of the yoke and a 3/8" allowance on the top edge of the yoke.
A row of light turquoise rick rack accents the bottom
edge of the yoke.  We also took in a little at the side seams
to reduce the size of the armholes.

The yoke buttons in the
back for an easy closure.

This dress looks so cool
for the hot days of summer.
I wonder if we could
enlarge it to an adult size?!
